About Us

Lake Victoria Children (LVC) is a community based Organization working at the grassroots to support the disadvantaged and most vulnerable children on Ukerewe Island in the heart of Lake Victoria. Founded in 2009 LVC reaches and supports over 2,800 disadvantaged children and their families annually through holistic interventions across Health, Education and Community development positioning ourselves as the strongest and immediate link of children to child support networks available on the Island and beyond. LVC works through a network of volunteers called LVC Ambassadors based in the village, they work on behalf of LVC by identifying the most vulnerable children in their respective villages and provide monthly reports to LVC team in Nansio. We work closely with the District Social Welfare office to ensure no child is left behind. To date we have 70 active villages ambassadors across the Island’s 74 villages and 25wards.
